When we watched Strange Days 20 years ago, the idea that you could record your life and share your memories with another person was electrifying and terrifying but pure science fiction. Today, James Cameron’s genius story seems to be a fairly accurate predication. Now we can capture POV experiences, which you can re-play in High definition in a VR headset, it really feel like the future has arrived. With much of the movie played out in POV (the viewer sees what Lenny is sees and feels when he puts the recorded memories SQUID device on his head) so it is a really good study of what can be achieved in VR story-telling and at the time employed ground breaking multi-faceted camera techniques.
